On June 9 at 5pm Hyatt workers from the Westin Bayshore, Four Seasons, and Renaissance are holding a RALLY to draw attention to their fight for respect on the job. The rally is timed to coincide with Hyatt's annual shareholders meeting. Thousands of hotel workers in cities across North America will be sending a message to global Hyatt Corporation to start treating workers--especially housekeepers--with respect. 2000 Vancouver workers at the Hyatt as well as the Four Seasons, Westin Bayshore, Renaissance, Hilton and Delta hotels are renegotiating their union contracts this year. High injury rates among hotel housekeepers continue, workers struggle to support their families and no one can afford to retire.
Multinationals like Hyatt, Starwood, Marriott, and Four Seasons keep trying to squeeze more from workers. Vancouver's hotel workers deserve to work with dignity, retire with dignity and have safe jobs. |
